AN EYE CATCHING DEBUT AT ROSEHILL BY 2 YEAR OLD FILLY GIGAS (Dubai Destination (USA) - Pinwherry (UAE)).
After her good trial win at Randwick GIGAS was all set to make her race debut the week before at Randwick, however excessive rain througout the day meant that most of the meeting was transferred to the Kensington track, which necessitated a ballot for the 2 year old fillies race. Gigas was unfortunately one of those balloted out at Randwick, but her top run at Rosehill showed that she is a filly with talent, running 2nd having been beaten a short neck, with 1 3/4 lengths to the third place getter. In the words of the highly respected form analyst
Tony Brassell in the Sun Hearald "Beaut debut" .... " Lived up to pre -race wraps and although beaten, her turn isn't far off."
Gigas as a yearling

SOME MORE GREAT NAMES FOR OUR YEARLINGS ...
Our Elvstroem x Jolie filly has been named ACTRICE and looks a precocious type... the Encosta De Lago x La Volta filly from the Inglis Easter sale was named POLSKA. Horse breaker Darryl Leigh was very impressed with her, and although out of an Oaks winner, he believes she may race as a 2 year old. The Fastnet Rock x Satin 'n' Silk (NZ) filly was named TEARDROP ROCK (named as Fastnet Rock was the last part of Ireland seen by Irish emigrants when they sailed to the USA and was referred to sometimes as "Ireland's Teardrop")... George Mooratoff (owner of the Group 1 winner Bently Biscuit) bought our Snippetson - Silent Tribute filly and called her SUN GLOW. ... the Elvstroem x Midnight Mist colt from Melbourne is called KNOXVILLE, whilst the Stratum - Nutshell filly is named AMARETTI. The very athletic Choisir x Obscure (GB) colt from the New Zealand sales has been registered as CRICKETER (NZ). He received "top marks" from horse breaker Toby Pracey at Muskoka Farms. Our next mission is to name the precocious Stratum - Mascara Magic (NZ) filly .... the half sister to Shadow Assassin. One owner suggested the great name
Madam Lash ... needless to add, it's unavailable!

WEIGHT FOR AGE STAR THESEO WINS THE
GROUP 1 RANVET STAKES AT ROSEHILL TAKING HIS CAREER EARNINGS TO $ 2.1 MILLION

Theseo and his 2 best mates Nash Rawiller and Stephen O'Halloran

Our weight for age star THESEO continued his great form and SCORED ANOTHER STUNNING GROUP 1 VICTORY, this time in the Ranvet Stakes over 2,000 metres at Rosehill, defeating Melbourne Cup winner Viewed. Ranked as one of Australia's best horses, THESEO HAS NOW WON AT GROUP 1 LEVEL 3 TIMES and together with his Group 2 win in the St George Stakes at Caulfield, THESEO's imposing weight for age record, now has the gelding as THE LEADING CONTENDER FOR THE TITLE OF AUSTRALIA'S HORSE OF THE YEAR, this season. In another superb ride by Nash Rawiller, THESEO took the lead shortly after the start in the Ranvet, was able to dictate the pace in the race, and held off all challengers to win by a length and a quarter. We purchased THESEO at the Magic Millions sales for $120,000 (+ GST) and his career earnings to date of $2.13 million certainly prove that our change of strategy several years ago of deciding to buy the better quality horses was the right one.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE THESEO OWNERS
