| EMERGING STAR SQUAMOSA A GALLANT 2nd IN THE GROUP 1 GOLDEN ROSE Talented 3 year old colt SQUAMOSA ran the race of his short (4 start) career to almost steal the Group 1 $million Golden Rose at Rosehill. The Not a Single Doubt colt will now have a 6 weeks spell to prepare for the Group 1 sprints (Lightning, Newmarket, Galaxy etc) in the autumn. He is one of our most exciting prospects over recent years. As jockey Nash Rawiller commented after the race "Awesome, what a beauty and he's just getting better all the time." Onwards to a Group 1 victory. Squamosa almost snatches the Group 1 Golden Rose ********************************** A BRILLIANT DAY AT WIDDEN STUD TO SEE THE STALLIONS INCLUDING OUR FAVOURITE...THE SUPER STAR... SEBRING
Antony Thompson and the team at Widden Stud presented a fantastic open day to parade their stallions. Each one looked in tremendous condition, however our Star performer, the magnificent Sebring, looked absolutely out of this world. We were thrilled to see one of his first foals and overall a great day was had by all. Katie Thompson presents the most extraordinary luncheon at Widden so a truly special day was had by the whole clan. Our helicopter trip from Sydney to the Hunter Valley was decidedly rocky and John Leggett, one of our passengers on the flight, took some amazing photos. Gai's racing manager Bruce Slade commented on arrival that it was one of the most hair raising experiences he had ever been through! We made it however and we were privileged to be at Widden Stud on such a special day.

What a fabulous day for the Tan family who arrived from Malaysia on the morning of the race to watch their Star 3 year old colt SQUAMOSA win the Group 3 Run to the Rose at Rosehill. It was also a career highlight for stable apprentice Blake Spriggs to ride his first Group 3 winner. Bought by Star Thoroughbreds at the Magic Millions sales for $140,000 SQUAMOSA (Not a Single Doubt - Class Success) is now a valuable colt and a most exciting racing prospect. Blake commented after the race that once the colt got sight of Masquerader finishing fast, he picked himself up and got going again, and in his view, still had a length or two up his sleeve. "He has a great turn of foot and relaxed beautifully in the run, there is no doubt that he is a very classy individual," commented Blake Spriggs. So now it is upwards and onwards to the Group 1 Golden Rose at Rosehill on Saturday 28 August. Congratulations to his winning owners Jeremy Tan, Grace Wong, Gillian Tan. .jpg) Images of SQUAMOSA winning the Group 3 Run to the Rose courtesy of Lisa Grimm photography 0402 808 386 ******************************* 5 GROUP 1's FOR THE GREAT THESEO Our great warrior THESEO continued to perform at the top level with a magnificent win in the Group 1 Ranvet over 2,000 metres at Rosehill, a race he also won in 2009. The 6 year old gelding goes from strength to strength and his Ranvet win takes his prize money to just over $3 million, made up of 10 wins including 5 Group 1's in a stellar race career, which hopefully has some way to go yet, hopefully in Melbourne in the Spring. Ongoing congratulations to the THESEO owners.

Highlights of THESEO'S 2010 Ranvet Win

It was a tremendously hard fought win by THESEO in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes over 1,600 metres at Warwick Farm, and a fantastic ride by Nash Rawiller after the gelding was headed by Rangirangdoo in the straight. Gai had decided not to proceed with a Spring campaign last year as THESEO needed time to recover from a foot injury, and as always her decision paid handsome dividends for his owners on Saturday, when he scored his 4th Group 1 win and took his career earnings to $2.7 million. THESEO will now head to the Group 1 Ranvet, a race he won last year. Congratulations again to all the THESEO owners. It was another most memorable day at the races. Reflections of the Group 1 Chipping Norton win.
